Last Minute Gift Guide

December 18th, 2015

If there’s one thing that makes my honey nuts is that I push the envelope when it comes to being on time. Which of course means that I’m frequently tardy. And that carries over to all things, including Christmas shopping. Despite my best intentions, I always seem to be rushing around for gifts and cards and stocking stuffers, looking for a gift that will capture the true spirit of not only the recipient, but the holiday and the giver as well.

Thankfully I was rescued this year from the evil clutches of last minute gift scrambling by the fabulous staff at the Furla store in Boston. I discovered this gem of a boutique tucked discreetly in the back corner of Copley Place several months ago. While I had been aware of the brand for several years, I wasn’t really aware of how amazing their product range is until I stopped in to pick up a birthday present for a friend. From small accessories to big ticket totes for your Numera Una, you can find everything you need for everyone on your list in one place in this delectable retail haven.Sara2

Let me caveat that by saying that my list is heavily weighted toward the female, and the men in my life are content with BestBuy gift cards and expensive bottles of Cabernet so they can hang out in their respective man-caves doing manly things.  The women, on the other hand, are finicky, run the gamut of ages, tastes, and styles, and are all over the map – literally – in terms of needs, wants, and geographical dispersement.

No matter… Furla has you (me) covered.  What animal lover on your list wouldn’t adore a chic and trendy coin purse?  On point and practical, crafted from quality Italian leather and just the right size for a school ID and a fake ID, every college student I know will want to have one of these when it’s time to hit the scene.Screen Shot 2015-12-18 at 1.20.46 PM

For more discerning gifting I’m crazy about Furla’s take on pouches and cases.  At first glance the Yo-Yo is a jewelry case, but open it up and there’s a smaller case inside (with a mirror !) for smaller pieces…but wait…there’s a strap as well, which converts the case to a cross body purse.  It’s like getting three gifts in one…Yes please!  furla_yo-yo_cosmetic_case_set_gold_colour_onyx_blackFurla also has variations on this theme in different shapes and sizes, as well as patterns and textures, so if you are the designated shopper for extreme fashion tastes, rest assured that you can still accomplish your goals in one store.  They even sell the most delicious scarves – the ultimate default gift for grannys and grouches everywhere – but seriously, who doesn’t love and use a yummy scarf  all. the. time. Screen Shot 2015-12-18 at 1.36.33 PM

There are big bags and little bags, practical ones and special occasion ones, nylon reversible totes and supple leather clutches that just beg to be caressed. All in a range of colors, styles and prices to meet every one-off criteria or twitch on your list. There’s even a large selection of sale merchandise at the back of the store so you can treat yourself too… after all, isn’t the mantra of the true holiday shopper “One for you, one for me…”IMG_0655

So stop stressing and start shopping. And if it’s really all overwhelming just call the store (617-236-0446) and ask for Sara.  She’ll fix you up and make you look like a rock star.  Ho ho ho…

P.S.  We’d like to thank the fabulous peeps at the Furla store in Boston for allowing us to come in, play dress up, and make a mess.  And a shout out to Dom Wise for taking such amazing photographs.
